This year the Art Institute of Vancouver showcases its graduating designers final creations in a themed runway show about culture and appreciating diversity. Embracing creative talent and looking forward to a career doing what you love is why I'm at Ai.

These 47 designers should be applauded and honored to have completed the two year program. Now I'll share my experience backstage so hopefully you can get a grasp of the impeccable craftsmanship and amount of detail that has been put into these walking art forms.

...

Since I am an expert on procrastination I managed to arrive 30 mins late to help out with this year's student fashion show. I was calm, coffee in hand; and eager to see what designs they have come up with (last years were innovative in a 'that's interesting' and 'that's different' kind of way) I loved it though.. all the art forms coming to life.. anyway back to this.

So arriving late can sometimes be a blessing; there was NOTHING for us to do. We were spoon fed trays upon trays of cookies and tarts followed by pizza and a lot of wandering around...haha such hard work :P

I met a few very cool students in the beginning quarters of Ai
(I had forgotten how psyched it is starting out)

Ok. so. Here it is. I am more of a details.. lets see the raw beauty
of this piece type of art lover. I took some pictures of the garments on the models and on the racks. I did end up becoming somewhat useful helping to dress a couple models and gathering Town Shoes after the show was done. Sadly I did not get to watch the show again this year but I think volunteering is more important, and I get to get a closer look at the designs before everyone else!

I did see (what I perceived as) Alexander McQueen influence as well as Zac Posen and possibly some Chloe/Fendi 'ish' pieces.
